Technology at The Sage CollegesThis Web will provide information and help for students using the Academic Computing Centers and other technology at The Sage Colleges. Academic Computing Centers are located on
both the Albany and Troy campuses. These facilities house state-of-the-art
computing equipment and host numerous computer-based classes. Students utilize
these spaces for classroom assignments, research, and other academic purposes. A
number of popular software applications are available. The Academic Computing Centers are managed by professional staff and student Lab Aides during regular classroom hours as well as evenings and weekends. Hours are posted each semester or can by obtained by calling the help desk at 4777 from on-campus or 244-4777 from off-campus. Sage is proud of its high speed computer network, SageNet, which links its two campuses and provides computing services to students, faculty and staff. These services include personal file storage, printing, e-mail and other popular Internet services. SageNet is accessible via approximately 225 publicly accessible computers in our computer centers and libraries. Dial-in access to e-mail, WWW and other Internet services is also available via our high speed access server. CampusCruiser, the College’s information portal, includes access to interactive calendars, community collaboration tools, community announcements, file sharing, chat rooms, and personal productivity tools such as task management, address books and e-mail. CampusCruiser is accessible via the Web at http://prod.campuscruiser.com/sage. The Sage Colleges faculty offer courses that utilize the flexible e-Learning software platform from Blackboard Inc. Our faculty utilize Blackboard as a tool to enhance the traditional classroom experience with rich web-based course content, on-line collaboration, and virtual contact with instructors as well as to facilitate on-line learning in courses taught largely on the web. Blackboard is accessible via the Web at http://blackboard.sage.edu:8080 Technology Workshops are offered regularly by the technology staff, faculty, and members of the library staff.
